About Motorik

I drew Motorik for my 2015 show Lucid / RMX. I liked the idea of ‘remixing’ the geometry in a more physical way, literally cutting the geometry apart, and reassembling the resulting pieces into a new more modular study.

Motorik / ONE has seven horizontal bars, and needs to be quite large on the wall to really work. Anywhere between two and four metres wide ideally.

I felt that the newly syncopated rhythm that the disassembling and restructuring creates, running through the seven horizontal bars, in some way captured a little of the fabulous motorik beat I was listening to in the studio. Timeless experimental recordings made by Can and Neu! in the seventies that still seem totally contemporary to this day. Hallagallo remains a favourite if you’re interested in hearing what I was listening to whilst gleefully chopping up the drawings.

Motorik / ONE is a set of 7 metallic Lambda photographic prints, optionally mounted to Plexiglass and Dibond, and fitted with hidden subframes, ready to install.

Work can be supplied unmounted and ready to frame if you’d prefer.

The work is individually signed and numbered verso, with both a unique catalogue raisonné number and the edition number for guaranteed authenticity.
