Oriel 2 is available in a single variation: kandy chroma, alongside the associated works Oriel / ONE / crimson kandy and Oriel / ONE / delft glaze.
About Oriel
Oriel / TWO uses a variant of the underlying geometry I drew for Oriel / ONE, but then goes on to dress it with a far more complex series of individually drawn components, that slot together to form a kaleidoscope of coloured pieces held tightly together by the rigour of the underlying structure.
It’s a small homage to the dazzling experience of standing inside a nave, staring up at a rose window, of which there are dozens of noteworthy examples throughout Europe, perhaps most famously at Notre-Dame on the Île de la Cité in Paris.
The idea of trying to capture some of that colour, light and drama, for a secular space, seems to me to be a wholly worthwhile pursuit, and one which I will definitely be returning to in the future.
