Colour Proofs, Jan 2015

I spent a fascinating day at Tapestry, on Goswell Road, last Friday. As the New Year comes in, so the date for my new solo show at the Catto Gallery in Hampstead comes into focus. The task in hand is to produce about twenty or so of the drawings I’ve been working on over the past two years, as full size editioned prints, all with Diasec mounts, and many of them laser cut.

The first stage of that process, at least post the initial proofing I can achieve in the studio, is to get Tapestry to make up a full set of colour proofs, on the Kodak paper I use, of all the drawings under consideration. This is inevitably followed by a certain amount of tweaking, especially fine tuning the colour balances and overall densities. As time goes on however, I find there are fewer and fewer surprises between the images I create on screen, and the completed Lambda photographic prints.

If you’d like to see how the proofs worked out, please do come to the opening, it would be good to see you there. The show is slated to open on Thursday 5th March, at the Catto Gallery, 100 Heath Street, London.
