Print Club News / Editioning at Spike Print / November 2023
I’m feeling quite excited about the week ahead, and so wanted to drop you a note to let you know that I’ve finally arrived at my first week editioning prints at Spike Print Studio.
I’ll be continuing to work with Martyn Grimmer, at least initially, the task in hand being to create an edition of Cyanotypes for the Print Club.
It should be really interesting to see how much they’ll vary, and how possible it actually is to ‘edition’ using this process. Martyn is one of the foremost ‘gum’ printmakers in the UK, gum is shorthand for gum arabic, and as such I’m expecting to make some really good progress! We’ll see.
Assuming everything goes well, I should be able to post out the new edition to the club next week. The process is a wet one, so the works will need to spend several days drying and flattening between boards before they can be wrapped and dispatched.
I’ll take some images of work in progress, and post them on my website here too, and look forward to letting you know that the work is in the post shortly.
In other news, my Transistor project has been accepted to exhibit at Battersea Affordable Art Fair in March 2024. The exact dates are Wednesday 6th to Sunday 10th March. There’s a lively opening PV on the Wednesday evening, and a second open evening on the Thursday too. If you’d like one or more free passes for the show do let me know, it would be lovely to see you there. I’m looking forward to curating the hang, and expect to be showing some quite ambitious new pieces there.
More soon,
Until then…
