Paper Works, RWA Biennial 2025
Paper Works at the Royal West of England Academy is a survey exhibition featuring some of the finest contemporary art created on and with paper in recent years.
With 170 artists showcased, the exhibition offers a vibrant overview of contemporary practice. Whilst the majority of the works are by South West based artists, the selection is diverse, presenting pieces from a broad spectrum of makers
I’m thrilled to have been included. My Sennen / EPC / chine collé photopolymer etching, originally created for my Experimental Print Club, was displayed in a fantastic spot in the main gallery.

Varnishing day, RWA Candidates Exhibition 2024
It was an honour to be selected as a candidate to become an academician in 2024. The successful candidates go on to become academicians for life and gain the right to exhibit work at the annual open as well as join a thriving group of career artists, mostly based in Bristol and the South West.
The candidate’s exhibition is a significant part of the selection process; each artist is invited to hang three works in the Kenny Gallery, and on the varnishing day the candidates gather in the gallery to field questions from academicians, whilst standing in close proximity to their work.
I have to say I really enjoyed the day, and the exhibition too. Having done quite a lot of ‘front of house work’ at shows and fairs over the past two decades I’ve become entirely used to talking about the work and what it means to me, as well as sharing ideas and thoughts around production and framing as well of course.

Lino / bronzed at the RWA Open 2023
Great to have a chance to revisit the RWA with friends recently, enjoy the show and take a few photos of my Lino / bronzed work in the main gallery there.
Lovely to be sited near Patricia Volk's sculpture too, we first exhibited together way back in 2008 I think.

Print Club News / October 2023
I’ve been making and refining my glass edition, entitled Vessel, over the summer. It remains a work in progress. The top image in the newsletter is of a 3d printed, one to one scale PLA maquette of the work, ready to be burnt out in the kiln, ahead of being cast into glass.
I’ll be working with Dr Angela Thwaites, a noted British glassmaker, in her London studio later in the autumn, in the hope of completing the work before Christmas. There’s a lot of polishing and grinding involved to complete the 11 glass components that make up the work.

RWA 170th Annual Open 2023
Really pleased to have been selected for the RWA’s 170th Open Exhibition. My piece Lino / bronzed is hanging in the main gallery.
The RWA has been beautifully refurbished recently, so if you haven’t been for a while it’s a great show, and well worth a visit. Open from 9th Sept 2023 to 14th Jan 2024.

Varnishing Day, RWA Open 2013
I misunderstood the invitation for the RWA’s annual ‘Varnishing Day’ lunch, so sadly missed the artist’s lunch and preview. Made it in with the locals for the opening though. Really pleased to find my work ‘Radial / THREE / pearlescent’ hanging in the main gallery, just across from Anna Gillespie’s fabulous small bronze ‘The Ghost of Summer’.

RWA Open 2013
Good to have been selected for the Open this year, although, at the time of posting this, it may be ‘selected not hung’. Fingers crossed for a good spot in the galleries.
The RWA Open runs from 24th November to 26th January. More information is available online here http://www.rwa.org.uk/whats-on/events/2013/11/161-annual-open-exhibition-events/
