About Vox Linea
Naum Gabo continues to haunt the studio here, and this piece, Vox Linea, makes particular reference to some of the ideas he explored surrounding intersecting forms, bisecting geometries, apertures, and the relationships of those core compositional elements behind the picture plane.
Or in other words, there’s more interest being taken here in the space the forms occupy than the planar surface of the final image.
I’ve come to realise that although I work with mostly flat materials, I take a lot of my inspiration from three dimensional objects, and perhaps especially the sculptural works of people like Tony Cragg and Richard Deacon, sculptural work that seems to have a solidity and authenticity about it that has massive appeal.
There's a pure joy to sculptural work, architecture, 3-dimensional form and modelling that continues to be of real interest of course. The way form exists, both in the built environment and in nature, combines to create a never ending resource both for study and inspiration.
